I think you will ID a spotted gar in my area a FLG as a lot spotted I see around me have a pretty broad snout and I don't think there is a FLG invasion or shortnose-spotted hybrid in mass number around here!
no i wouldn't for the same reason you think every florida is spotted....they arent in your area...you see i do things like research and that research includes locations. i am actually thinking of going down to texas to go into the canals to get some true spotteds for myself. you know little about gars from your posts but you act like a professional.
I never act like a pro, only you think so! and in the other post I didn't even say I'm sure that is a spotted, I only say it look more like spotted than FLG!
And if you want to go down here to get some gar, I've seen some odd gar that might be hybrid at some place I been fishing. Just need to catch them and do some DNA test to find out.
ok i see where this is going....i'll be the adult....just do more research before you post about spotteds...just because you have them in your area doesn't mean they are everywere.
dna tests aren't that cheap or easy to get. there are some sngxlng around me i just have to catch them. i only need spotted and trops to complete my pure strain mixed tank. then on to hybrids. i will be doing a gator pond later after the move. i have alot of experiance with gars, but i am not a pro either.

DNA tests aren't cheap but it is not that hard to do, I just need my friend to have some free time and he will do it for me!

My friend just caught this gar can anyone tell me what kind it is I am in South FL if that helps
