GIANT gouramis

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Current tank size = 1.5m x 0.6m x 0.5m

The new tank bit is a tricky one, we are either going to move house next summer or extend this one. If we extend the idea was to get another 2 tanks, a large one for George(at the time we didn't have him it was going to be for X fish) and a few tank mates and another tank.
The old spec for the new tank before the moving idea came about was 3.5m x 0.8m x 0.75m around 520 us g/2000 litre, but apart from the rough sketch I made at the time I've not looked into the ins and outs of building it yet, we've got to get the extension up first. If we move house then it will all change depending on space.
It's hard work reading the DIY threads, you go there to looking for some building big tank info and before you know it you've read 100 or so pages of someones 10000 gal build, start dreaming and you've forgot what you went there for in the first place

The sketch:

No thats what ive got.
Really? So what is it then? The Elephant Ear one?

(Man, the site is real slow for me today...phhhewww...)

Osphronemus laticlavius, is bogwoodbruce's, it's hard to make out in the vid because the fins just look like a faded orange on it, the blurry pic shows off the red fins the best these things are so hard to get a good snap of.
Not having ago at anyones photography skills there btw, one halve decent pic of George takes about 50 tries:

Osphronemus exodon (George)

Must be rare, 'cause I can't find a pic online, I'll get another pic of George up tonight.

Bogwoodbruce, is yours friendly enough to eat out of your hand?

I like the plan very much...wish it would be 3.5m x 1.2m x 0.9 m though...perfect for monsters...

How do you plan to filter that baby? Will it be glass?

Like I said apart from the sketch I've not thought that much about the rest, need the space to put it first, once that's either under construction, or a new house found I'll start the proper plans.

Almost impossible indoors but a pre vortex filter with bottom drain on the tank would be perfect :screwy:
