Can anybody tell me why Wiki suggests:

"Preferably the tank should have a dark bottom..." for the Giant Gourami?

Wiki has been known to be wrong

"Preferably the tank should have a dark bottom..." for the Giant Gourami?

Tank specifications - taken from Wikipedia:

An adult Gourami The Giant Gourami is also popular in aquaria. Preferably the tank should have a dark bottom, and densely planted edges. There should be plenty of room left in the center of the tank for the Gourami to swim. They prefer the company of other fish which are of a similar size and temperament.

They also state that the tank should be planted and the GG enjoy the company of other fish the same size.....NOT. Very interesting since GG eat plants and most hate other fish unless there eating them.

Or they may just be saying that because dark backgrounds make 90% of all fish stand out. That includes those dark dank common GG & EEGG.

what other fishes can a GG live with? i have two of them in separate tanks. this is because i'm afraid one will dominate the other.

I have a pair of Red Tails that were introduced several months ago and enjoyed each others company, but now the male's starting to bully the female.
do u think this will get worse?
I also noticed them doing some sort of courting shaking thing a couple times.
