Get a photo up, a lying down GG sounds bad to me.

Check the parameters, is this in your QT tank? Is the filtration always up and running with fish in on the tank? One reason I love canisters, even dead you can add them to other active tanks as extra filtration then move them so they the water doesn't spike.

Thanks Yanbbrox, ill try to post pics of my GG's lying down next time. they're not doing it anymore. i think they have adjusted to the tank they are in now. thanks for all the help :)

what is an ideal set up for a GG?

I have a white one or the red eye albino giant gourami. I bought two and their so cool but they are just 4".

Too young too tell.
Thanks for your reply and I agree with you. The problem is the shop told me this fish is defintely a male because its dorsal fin is longer and pointed. However, after reviewing more pictures of GG. I find out some females have longer and pointed dorsal fin just as males. Please let me know if anyone else has other opinion.

Shop is wrong, if I was guessing at this age, I'd say female. I didn't want to post this. Age will tell truth.

I agree , an educated guess wouldnt be very educated at this age, however most ppl only look at the dorsal fin with no regard to the anal fin. The anal fin should also be considered when trying to determine the sex as they will be pointy(male) and round(female) as well. With that said, the fins are not the final word of the sex of an individual fish, they grow according to the genes of a fish and males can have round fins and vice versa. Sexing a GG can be very tricky even when mature and most of the time it is only an educated guess. Unless you have a pair form and the male builds a nest/female produces eggs it IS a guess or an educated guess at best..If i had to guess, i would also say female due to the round anal fins but as stated by the great Yanbbrox "Age will tell truth" or atleast a more educated guess due to the fact that the dorsal/anal fins will be more developed.

Good luck with your gorgeous GG..
