Loads of thanks for the pictures of the bulhkeads, my friend noiesmo :) I really really appreciate it.

Aaargh! I wish I had the space to build a bigger tank in which I could use these bulkheads and also a sump (I'd convert my 5 footer into one). And, when I say space, I mean I'm concerned about weight really. I have enough space in my room for a 10 x 3 x 2.5 tank (which, filled at 80%, would have held 1699.01 Litres or 449.47 gallons). But As I'm on the first floor... well... Especially when I think that I'll have to also consider the weight of the sump...

I feel really bad about this. I have all the plans and I could manage to find bulkheads and all. Funds should not be too much of a problem. But! Aaaaargh!

no probs loulou

Yeah first floor could be a bit touch and go. maybe ask the body corp or developer of the units what the floor rating would be and if they would put in writing it'll be ok. ;)

I figure my tanks holding around 1900 litre's, it took 8 people to get the tank of the floor and onto the stand.

I might have found a way to use these bukheads ;)

Please check this:

The concept is good, but you'd have to consider the weight and how it would be supported.

A diy background on that tank would be so

yeah a mates pushing me to make one too. So i guess i'll check it out soon.

The tank might be big enough and the gg small enough for it to accept the plants as part of it's habit and not food, either that or it will rip them all out and eat them when it puts 2 and 2 together ;)

Well that's what i'm hoping the gg will accept it's habitat, but if he decides later to destroy the plants so be it. plastic plants here we come

A few things:
1. where is the thread on this project
2. why have we no pictures:confused:
3. are Mauritians taught from an early age that everything should be painted black or blue, but recently mainly black:ROFL:

'Ok children today we were going to do some basic maths but instead we are going to discuss the joys of painting everything black, if that's not your favourite colour you can paint it blue':ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:
  1. I haven't created one as I was planning to post the (few) pictures that I would eventually take here (as the tank contains a GG) ;)
  2. I haven't taken any yet - will do so after I complete some more plumbings :)
  3. Actually I learned that on MFK! :D

Actually I find that black is a better background color for Discus Aquariums.
A black background removes the distraction of the wall (and any wires, pipings, etc) behind the tank... and it also enhances the colours of what's in the tank - be it fish, plants or decor :)

On top of all that, it's awesome for photography :)

i have a 55 gallon in burlington with a flame gourami that my boyfriend bought me, i never wanted one for the record, i liked my silver dollars. then it became eight inches in my 29 gallon tank. now he is about 10 inches in the 55 gal. i guess he purchased the wrong one!!! i wanted a powder dawrf and got something else definatley. i will have to keep upsizing my tank if this guy keeps on growing. it is not what i planned for, but i am prepared to take the best care of him possiable. what happened???
First of all, welcome to MFK :)

As long as I'm aware, a 10 inch gourami can only be a giant one (please correct me if I'm wrong, guys). If you really prepared of keeping a GG, then please upgrade to a 100 gal or larger tank ASAP. :)

It would also be great if you could post a few pictures ;)

Getting GGs by mistake seems to become the norm around here... ;)

Well, the house belongs to my family so we would be the developers :) I wouldn't want to risk a weight of nearly a ton on the first floor...

Is that an all-glass tank?

Well yeah and, though I think I could manage to solve the weight issue, I am holding off on that project as I'm thinking that, for the cost, I'd rather buy another canister. As I'm happy with 2 canisters, I'm gonna use the funds for something else. ;)

Yeah that's fair enough put a monster tank downstairs ;)

No my tank is plywood/timber construction the internal measurements are 298cm x 100cm x 80cm ( 70cm water depth) so 298x100x70 = 2086000/1000 = 2086 litres by my calculations.

Here's my thread on the construction of my tank

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=126297

Canisters can be good value, there expensive here in aussie, trickle systems are way cheaper to make for what you get. ;)

I wish I could put a tank downstairs but alas, there's no space and even if there was, downstairs is where my dad lives and he'd go berserk if I just suggested putting a tank, even a small one, there... I guess I'll have to wait until I eventually build a house of my own...

I've check that thread... your tank is simply fabulous, my friend :) If I had a tank like that, I would go Saratoga all the way! :)

Canisters are also quite expensive here...and we get only the asian brands...

Bugger :(

yeah then you can design your house around the tank. ;) .

 for the comment on my tank.

I do like the Saratoga and Barra but I like my gg, loaches, cichlids a little more :(

my bro goes fishing and catches barra and saratoga.

Here is a photo of a barra my bro got the other weekend it is 79cm and 5.75kg

barra_01.jpg

that's a bugger about the cannister's, could you import them, would they plug into your power points...
