I just purchased a 225 gallon acrylic to ad to my 90 gallon glass aquarium. The problem was the guy i bought the tank from installed this into his wall and had tiles cemented on. It took several hours of picking but now have all tiles and adhesive off... I am looking for suggestions for lighting and sumps for the 225 gallon tank ( reef ready).
I too just bought an acrylic to add to my collection, what is the foot print of your 225?

As far as lighting goes, I'm going with a DIY canopy and I'm going to install 2 or 3 strings of LED Christmas lights...Less heat and less power consumption, plus I can get more coverage with less wattage...

jcardona1 did a DIY moonlight using blue LEDs. He used coax cable hangers to secure the sockets and bulbs in place.

I'm going white bright LEDs on mine using the same mountings....

As far as I know the benefits of Acrylic include being lighter, stronger, clearer, it's supose to retain temperature better and when it gets scratched you can buff them out.

Acrylic is much lighter, clearer and a lesser chance of breaks leaks ans cracks If I had the money that's the way I would go

every 125 acrylic ive seen here has been cheaper than a 125 glass. maybe its just here.
that is because acrylic scratches over the years then it looks bad,i like glass tanks, so-much easier to take care of,glass is "BACK" baby!!!...:D

people that like taking pictures of thier fish curse acrylic, since the scuff marks show up on camera..from those scratches that someone tried to 'buff' out..
