Got a new 225 acrylic tank, have some questions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The composite ones are legit, I love those. Make sure you're shimming from both sides so you get two triangles that form a rectangle(ish) shim with parallel top and bottom for maximum effect (you probably already know this).

@Dawgz Lookin most excellent my man, u did a great job ??. Ive never even went as far to go both ways like that lol. Honestly might be the best example of how to properly level an acrylic tank on the forum.

Oh wow thanks. Ya I had a lot of shims on hand that I ordered so figured why not haha.

I did notice that shimming this while the tank is empty is cumbersome. It needs a little weight so one side of the shims don't loosen as you shim the other side.

Will have to back most if not all of these out a little...fill a little water (2-4" worth) and then re-shim it.

72 x 30 x 4 should be about 37 gallons so about 300lbs of weight.

Alright so, took all the shims out. Filled the tank with about 3-4" of water. I let it sit for a day like that and noticed the left side of the tank sits fully flat on the plywood and stand. The other three sides need shims. Although not as many as before.

It's much easier to shim now as there is weight. Before, when it was empty, I would shim one end and the other end would come loose. Not any more or not as much any more.

Fish room is a mess with shims and stuff all over lol but ya getting there. I'm going to let this sit as is for a day or two and add a little more water, maybe another 3" and then come back to it next week and break off the shims or to see if there need to be any adjustments.

Hopefully this is done soon, it's been a long journey on this tank but I want to do it right.

Bare with me!

Ran into an issue with the fx6 canister hose holder/stabilizer. The port that the tank has is too far in and the piece doesn't fit.
