Green Terror in 55-Gallon

There aren’t any SA in your mix - those are both CA cichlids.

You knew what I meant :hitting:.

I prefer American cichlids period.
If I were you, I would prefer, 3 senegal bichirs and one top dweller. Bichirs like to pile with each other in an aquarium setting (although they prefer solidarity in the wild) and definitely look better in groups.

I feel a single theme would be better, as it would look less messy in my opinion. Right now you have one live bearer here, a convict there a bichir at the bottom. Although this may be a biased viewpoint cause I’m an avid bichir keeper myself 😂

Can I fit more than one bichir in my tank? I would love to have a bichir aquarium. I only have a 55 gallon tank...

What top dweller could I do? Could I go a Hujeta gar?

Yes, you can, although maximum I would say for a 55g would be 3 bichirs, and no larger sized top To middle dwellers such as fire mouth or blood parrots (sorry finwin 😂)

smalller sized CB upper jaw bichirs suitable:

- senegalus bichir
- albino senegalus bichir
- mokelembembe bichir
- delhezi bichir (may be slightly larger than senegals)

Hmm, I will consider this. It would be an exciting prospect. The only thing is, can I have any other fish or only bichirs? I don't want to get rid of my precious Striped Raphael, pictus, or BGK (though I will have to get rid of it eventually).

I really want something a bit more active than a bunch of bichirs, like some cichlids or something.
Mate the bichirs you can house properly are active.
Uppermouthed species such as Senegal’s are crazy active
Bought my guy thinking he’ll spend half his time in a cave, swim out once and while and I was fine with it.

Him and my Aus bass basically swim the same amount
