A healthy liver for freshwater fishes should be dark reddish-brown in color (slightly lighter compared to human liver color) and with even coloration. The liver appearance in your picture is spotted and pale. It's seems to be more towards Viral Hepatitis rather than poisoning.
Well, if I read the bag I would never use that anywhere near a fishtank or anything else alive. " Contains chemical(s) which can cause cancer"...'silicate silicate silicate'..... wasn't that enough warning for you? ( I guess not)
I think this is very possibly the cause of your problems
not that it makes it right, but i have been using the exact same stuff for avoer a year with no ill effects. I know several other people also using it for about the same amount of time or longer. I have a hard time believing that it caused the death...
i agree with david . if i saw that bag i would be reluctant to put it on the garden let alone in the fish tank . why does sand need loads of chemicles ? any ingested chemicles have to be bad
maybe bad enough over a long period to cause these problems maybe not . but i dont think i woud be putting that stuff in my tank .
sounds like the liver issue is worth looking into a bit more . something must have caused it .
do you put any other chemicls in the water ? perhaps some other meds . sorry but going on the bag of sand i wonder if there is anything else that could contribute . maybe meds containting copper or something like that ?
or perhaps a new water source
well, for years i have myself and seen others use pool filter sand, it says " contains silicate" Do not breathe" may cause lung cancer" may cause silicosis"
