Help verifying if I got a Super Red (juvie, 6-7 inch)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Its natural for fish to try and blend into there environment so yeah the black back ground helps the red pop more
Gotcha. I will try to get a black background in next week then. I think you’re right because the altums were in a darker tank before and now they look like albinos sometimes lol

thanks x

I don't go for this tanning business. You end up with (possibly) a bright red fish in a totally synthetic looking tank. I like your well lit planted tank. When the aro gets bigger, it will be more of orange than red, but look wonderful.

moth eaten?

Yes, not literal, in the pictures dates 17 October, apt, maybe even literal.

Lol gotcha. I think the fins got frayed a bit cos he was skittish at first. For a couple weeks actually. Now it’s a bit more used to me being around to feed it.
I really don’t dig my warm led light though.
Would it be ok to add like a hygger 999?

Agreed on tanning, I don’t think I will have the time to do that sort of thing. It’s weird though how the light completely changes the way it looks.

Here’s a few more pics

Quick one though, this Aro is 10 months old from tag date. Isn’t it a bit small for its age? It’s 6-7 inches atm. (15-18cm)

That's about right.

Have you checked the chip code to the certificate?
If I’m being honest I don’t even think it’s a high grade one. Barbs are juuust a tinge orange, lips no red at all atm. Although right at the upper jaw, and the top part of the gill plate, I see some yellow-gold colors that weren’t there before. The eyes at the rims used to be blue, they are turning greenish.
Or is it still too early to tell?

Where did you get your fish from? Personally, I can't say for sure whether your fish is a Red Arowana, but I have a Red Arowana with a Super Red F5 certificate from the same source as your certificate. This photo was taken about a year ago, and now it has developed into a beautiful red color, just like typical Red Arowanas. Hopefully, this helps you compare it with your own fish, which has the same certificate and is around 5-6 inches in size.
