Help verifying if I got a Super Red (juvie, 6-7 inch)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just an update four months later, it’s about 8-9 inch now. Haven’t done any tanning, feeding MP and porpoise pellets, with the occasional frozen brine shrimp and blood worms. WC 10-15% every week. I can’t seem to lower the ph to 6-6.5 though, the tank has stabilized to 7.2 - 7.6. The scale rims look a lot more golden, but the light is throwing me off. Sometimes I feel the rims are pinkish gold. Towards the tail end some of the scales even have specks of purple. What do you guys think?
100% RTG. IMO they don't need tanning. Intensity of gold will come out with age and good care. White light or warmer white should make the gold stand out more especially when it's an adult with full colors.

First thing would be to read the chip and compare it to the cert.
Agreed, funny thing was I saw one on Amazon that was cheap. Was on the fence though so didn’t grab it. A week later it was double the price lol I’ll probably have to borrow one

Update, my supplier has agreed to replace the fish with a proper SR, same size as this one. Shipment arrives March. Agreed to bring the chip reader. I’m happy and sad at the same time. Four months this guy was with me. Anyway thank you guys I really appreciate the insight. Will update soon!
