Are the elongated ones female? I've got about 15 left I'm desperately trying to sex...some are huge/chunky/tall and some are bullet shaped. Problem is my dominant female is tall/chunky so I don't know what to think.
The quick and easy way to tell male from female is where on the fish is the orange coloring.
Females like thier Convict cousins have orange bellies
Males on the other hand, the orange is in the unpaired fins (dorsal, tail, anal)
And here is a 3/4in fry from the above pair. You can see the orange starting to show in the fins.
