Almost anyting HAGEN makes, but the Aqua Clear series of hang-on flters are bulletproof.

lol even when your fish spit sand and gravel up the tube for sport. I kid you not seen em do it to amuse themselves or they like the whine of the motor when sand is in it. Have to repeatedly almost daily clean out the sand from the motor where the propeller is (tip: use Q-tips)

i have had the exact same thing with mine on my aquaclear500(now called 110) some of my fish disturb some of the sand a bit to much and she screams like a banshee, lol but its still going strong with no problems at all after 7 years

I agree - aquaclears are great. I have had a 300 and a 200(i think) for like 15 years (it was my moms, i think they are older than i am, lol)

Dont think they made a 200(not sure tho) its probably the 150, but ya they are great.
For the money you cant beat em

i like aqua clear and penguin products, i have a mixe of both and never had a problem with any, i espacially like the aqua clear no noise and if you got use for power heads there 70 models are great 400 gallons a hour, heard of a 90 but haven't been able to track on down

my eheim 2215 runs more than 6 years (52560hours no stop) and eheim 2128thermo professional filter(cant hear it even from 30cm) allmoust two years and work ideal !
thank You GERMANY.

i love my fluval fx5. it's been running for 4 years along with my two aqua clear 50's. the only thing with the fx5 is that if you fill the canister with fluval's specifications and media is loses power flow every 4 months.

The Whisper 5 filter chattering away behind me is the same one I've had for over 20 years.

The impellers are built badly on them. Every now and then you have to pull one out, put a dab of epoxy on it and let it cure, and then drop it back in. Right as rain for 10 more years or so.

I don't think they make these anymore.

I've stopped repairing them. Now I am getting rid of them through attrition since the local shops no longer carry pads for them. Only one left now. When it goes, I'm building a closed loop system with DIY parts.

my dad had a 20 gallon that used a marineland HOB filter it was running for about 6 years but he took the tank down now im starting the hobby and i just got 2 of the same marineland HOB filters the 330s hope they hold up as long as his did

i'd have to say aquaclear. my 500series has been running nonstop for over 8 years. it's the only filter that has survived the constant (daily) power surges we get here.
