Still scomb do get as big as >100cm Seen some big ones too.
Gonna need some pics to believe this. Biggest I've ever heard of in captivity was like 10 inches..... Doesn't matter how big they get in the wild. Point is they fair poorly in home aquariums.

Well, I am not an expert. Cos never keep before only seen them.
Try not to get such a high hope so will not get high disappointment.

My guess is a scomb. Base on the eye and the mouth shape...need to be round abit more than look like.

Still scomb do get as big as >100cm Seen some big ones too.
Most important is you like your fish. I also ever try to find armatus in scomb.
As there are case before armatus found in scomb batch.

Good luck bro.
i know bro.
i think it will very likely turn out scomb.
the only reason why i thought it might not be was because of how it acts.
it always swims horizontal and is very active, unlike my past scombs.
i LOVE any hydrolycus species.
but because i can only have one tank, scombs dont do it for me.
they cant compete with pbass and will die of starvation or get eaten.:(
im going armatus hunting.
you know if serangoon brought in little scombs?

The second set of pics dont look armatus to me any more. Jaw is angled very sharply and the tail and fins seems small. Give it ten days and keep a constant supply of guppy in the tank and they you will know 100%.
i think now i can establish that its no armatus....cause he sure doesnt eat like one.:ROFL::ROFL:
i remember you guys with armatus eating things near the same size as it.
but this guy i have touches only the smallest mollies...:screwy:

true...true...
ive had over 6 scombs.
almost all of them died due to unknown reasons be it they were in a species tank or with other species.
they wouldnt all die at once...
just drop dead one by one.

so vamptrev and others, after the second batch of pics STILL think armatus?

Yup you are right. Even for GATF that should be able to grow till 1.5m but to me it not about the tank size or water. It the location. Congo river seem to have larger fish or animal there. Wonder why...

Doesn't matter what we think. We have been telling you the same thing since page one.

Go take 37 more pics. Turn around twice with your eyes closed, while jumping on one foot. Maybe then we will know what it is for sure.....LOL

Or we can wait a few weeks for you to see "true colors". Either way it's still the same fish.

:)
