I've got the 450D, 580EX, remote and much success with 18-55AF/IS. I didnt know I would love to use that lens so much more until I got my flash.

That's cool. That means I should be able to get those awesome macro candle shots with some practice.

so are you shooting this in full manual? what were your settings (ISO, shutter speed, aperture) etc. and i usually get lucky with my speedlight as to where it casts a black background.

have you figured out the correct angle at which to aim at the fish?
