imo its a well acculmated s/w grouper acclumated to b/w and then f/w
but what do i know

After limited research I found that E lanceolatus spawns in saltwater. “is believed to form spawning groups of no more than a few tens of individuals”

They also use the estuaries as a feeding ground…but mainly found in caves and reef systems

NO. THEY LIVE IN SALTWATER AND BREED IN SALTWATER...

THEN HOW THE **** IS NEO'S IN FRESHWATER

well, if someone added trace amounts of chlorine gas to the air you breathed, you wouldn't drop dead. Not to say that it would be good for you, and the long-term effects of it would likely ruin you.

Think of it as smoking.

ok so what we are trying to figure out is if they are 2 diffrent sp. of grouper
or both sw but one is a convert`

they are the same specie of grouper. The grouper lives in saltwater, sometimes brackish water, in the wild.
