Do you only have one cave in that tank? It sounds like if because everything first goes into the snakeheads cave, then runs behind a filter. Ummmmmmmmmm yeah, that's fair. SH with established territory and other fish with no where to go at all. How about, put in other hiding spots for the other fish, that way one isn't always stressed and swimming while the SH comfortably watches them. Im not saying SH's aren't mean, ive owned a few and can vouch, they are sick predators. But, I have had Jags live with Giant SH's for a while until they were outgrown. Dovii also have very large teeth when grown, up to 1/4 inch, which is about on par with that snake heads dentition. All im saying, is give the other fish a chance to get comfortable with their surrounds and allow them retreats if needed. Your snake head will need to be by itself when grown, or with verrrrrrrry large tank mates, larger then what a cichlid other then maybe a Tremisis will grow. Just saying, don't send fish to their death. Hell, I wouldn't put anything in with a Jag that was established with only one cave in the tank, it would kill the other fish just the same. That is essentially "Their tank"

I use to have Channa's Red and Cobra. Your best bet is a Wolf Fish if you ask me. But my one Wolf Fish killed my three Red Snake Head's. At the time the Channa's were 8''-9'' each. The Wolf Fish was about the same length but if you have ever seen one then you know that there way more fat at girth= Muscle! Try that out and I will follow up to see if you have success!

Lame. There will always be people supporting the snakehead and people supporting the cichlid. Sicxspeed is right. Put the snakehead in a tank where the Jag or Dovii has established its territory and the snakehead is likely to get owned. My 4.5" Jag attacked my 6" Channa lucia till it jumped out, in a tank where the Jag had been living in for weeks.

hey whats up i am a new member and am wondering is anyone has heard of a Jauguar cichlid being put with a piranha? i know i shouldn't have(piranha not a starter fish) but i started out about six months ago with one piranha in a 31gl tank. he is about 4 inches now and last month i bought a 4inch jag. i have heard that the jag will attack anything in the tank but the two have now "schooled" together they tag up on fish together and have claimed the same territory in the tank?... i am confused i was told this was not sopposed to happen. (both are afraid of the pleco) i have them in a 75 gl now.

your jag is going to be killed sooner or later....He will try to lip lock and take over the tank and the Piranah will take chunks out of him....He just does not have the equipment to be in a tank with a Piranah, but I guess you never know, they may end up getting along....My suggestion is to put a divider in there....Piranah are known to strike out of absolutely no where and when they do, it will be to late for you to prevent the deadly outcome.

honestly all my cichlids never try to lip lock with non-cichlids they go straight for the stomach or eyes, no flaring or anything they just seem to get an evil look in their eyes before they attack, and its the speed of the strike not how fast the fish can swim Rumble Sushi; if a guy can run fast it doesn't mean he has fast hands or a powerful punch, maneuverability is more important, if you look at a puffer they are very slow but can turn to face their enemy very quickly and I'm certain one would kill your sh, dovii can't rip other fish in half with their teeth but they can kill them just the same, and as for your post on which fish would come out on top I can assure you if you got an equal size sh and aimara it would be no contest not only do aimara have much better teeth and stronger jaws, they have a much faster strike and one thing you haven't considered they sit on the ground so that eliminates an attack from below, you should just give up on your mission to prove sh are the most bad ass fish of all time because its not true and a huge waste of time, sure they are tough fish but they are certainly not the toughest, also you seem to be pretty insecure about your sh because you feel the need to announce its supposed "greatness" to the world... there are plenty of better things you could be doing with your life.
