IMO you are just sadistic and getting a kick out of putting smaller weaker fish in with your channa. Very seldom will you get a stalemate between 2 very aggressive fish. More often than not you get a dead fish.

I dont like idiots like this. If you want a community setting, get rid of the SH! If not, then accept the fact you will have a lone fish in your tank. Or if you are so bent on trying to make it work, put a bigger fish in. Doesnt sound like your SH is a killer if youre too chicken to put something in there that MIGHT kill it.

Senseless.

do not mess with the striata, they are dangerous fish their whole life. I once kept one with the pbass a bit bigger than it. The pbass would bully it ALOT. Then one day, I looked at my tank and the pbas was extremely scared every time the chevron swam near it....the next morning i woke up to see my pbass floating belly up in the water :p. But i still think chevron are great fish, very active. Also i dont think its a good idea to keep SH with cichlids as cichlids will challenge and the SH will accept and tear the cichlid to shreads :p

Hey, if you're still looking for something to put in with your channa, why not try a nice 7" or 8" piranha. Not a Red-Belly, but one of those Blacks or Golds, that typically need to be housed alone. I bet your channa would get a run for his money then... Hmmm!

the op was just jealous because cichlid guys keep actual aggressive fish, if you ever read any of the ops other threads they are basically the same full of bs

Geez. Common sense. Anytime you plop fish into a tank with a lone specimen of an aggressive fish ( or a group of piranahs), your chance of success is next to nil. And from this kind of stupidity, you get aquarists claiming nothing loives with a dovii, nothing lives with a snakehead, nothing lives with piranahs, nothing lives with RD/midas, nothing lives with a jag...... blah, blah, blah, nothing lives with breeding cons right down to nothing can live with breeding kribs:ROFL:. If your unsucessful mixing fishes, generally it's because you didn't do it right and/or your tank is too small.

Lots of people have mixed snakehead with cichlids, with success. Usually, people find they are not generally as aggressive as cichlids in a community setting. My brother had a giant snakehead with his large CA/SA and Tilapine for many, many years. It was always subordinate to his cichlids though it probably never reached it's true potential, as it "only" got to around 2 ft. He originally had 2; one picked on the other so he gave me the smaller one. Mine got well over a foot and lasted over a year in 100 gal (4' X 2' X 21") with many tankmates but got killed by the boss ---- a much older and developed female RD. Snakehead got too scared and nervous. That was over 25 years ago; I was only 14-15 years old; today i know the tank was way too small, though it was seen as a pretty big tank around here, back then.
