Made some pretty good headway today, 99% of the framing is done. Just seven small pieces to put in and I can start sheeting!
All the braces under the floor sheeting were installed.
Holes were drilled in the scribed floor joists under the addition.
The floor sheeting was installed and the walls framed.
I also figured out how many gallons of water the tank will hold…

1457.01 gallons! The sump will also have water in it but I haven’t made a 100% decision on the sump yet. It’s got to be quite large in order for it to not run dry before it gets fed. I’m thinking about 175 gallons or 200 gallons should do it.

Here’s a short video…

Thanks for looking!

What kind of plastic is that you used to line the fish room? Looks like a ton of work, not to mention expensive, but if it allows you to keep the tank in a 100% humidity room, at tank temp, it should save you a lot of evaporative cooling.

How are you planning on plumbing the sunken down area? I don't imagine you gravel vac the whole tank, so I'm assuming you will run rugf or something there? Might be useful to stick a pool porthole light or something down in that area in case one of your fish is sick or injured and hiding out down there, so you can see/diagnose/net the bugger.

Is there a floor drain under the tank? That would be a nice 'peace of mind' thing to have, although if there isn't one now I guess you wouldn't be adding one!. How much did it cost to heat and filter the 800? Do you think you'll get some power savings from the humidity and insulation improvements?

Oh hey, I just noticed this is my 1000th post. Hooray for me.

Hey one more idea - it might be a good thing to put a 2x4 or something as a lip across the edge where the floor drops down the the lower area, otherwise your substrate will forever be migrating into the lower portion of the tank, and you'll have a big bare spot near the edge.
