Metal monster 3k

I've been curious about how you could do a metal frame...I'll have to check out your other builds. For now though subscribed! My father in law could probably put together my much smaller frame for me for free!

Hah thankyou sir! Nice build you got goin yourself. I like how the trend in larger tanks is becoming more normal on this site :) 300& less gallons are just good growout tanks....Personally i dont feel comfortable keeping any monsters in a 24" floor depth they just dont fit and become ill tempered very quickly. i'm also very aware this 3K will only last me a couple years :( This is it for my basement tho, still not sure if it can take any more weight on the foundation. Already thinking about putting a tank in my welding shop as its heated lol. Good luck on your build and thanks for the support!

Sweet Russ, this tank is gonna be awesome. Didn't read all the thread yet but the pics are great. keep em comin, tank and artwork lol. Your artwork just blows me away. True skills!!!

Thanks for the support Aaron! Wish more people would be interested in my murals around town lol....I'm gettin ready to test my new window seals so you should start buildin your pond i still have that extra piece of 1" Acrylic for you :) ....Unfourtunately i cannot post pics of how im doing my windows for then i will be out of a job haha but ill take care of urs of course.

Gotcha, I'll be snagging that acrylic real soon. I'll put it in my fishroom to give me incentive to get started on the pond. Visual reminders are what keep me going, other wise I forget. lol.

Updates with photos.... We're hungry for more.

the tank is going to be a true beast! but what i really wanna see is the filtration this bad boy is going to use!

Haha i know patience my friend im anticipating getting it in my house by summer so first fill is not for many a full moon hah....Frame is basically done so i have aloooot to do now to get my 1700 intex pool torn down and all its inhabitants in a temp situation so i can get the new tank in its place. Boring i know but its not easy stashing 8 24-30" fish and a 16" turtle in anything temporary. Side note...there will be 2 small ponds being made 4'x'12 so that should keep it a bit interesting. I will be testing my window seals on one of these temp ponds. Also plan on using the 4'x12' one for an overhead sump on the 3k so everything ends up being necessary in the end. My next step is doing a couple other jobs so i can order pondliner and sealant.

Filtration will be somewhat simple as i am getting more into setteling chambers lately for their efficiency and easy matinence. So far im positive on an overhead 90 gal (4'x2' footprint already have it) setteling chamber into a 4'x12' with window :) "Plant Box" full of photos/plants simply grown over egg crate. Viewing window is to see the swords/guppies that will breed in the plant box under the media and help consume small particles of waste and uneaten food that makes it too them. I'm tired of wasting time cleaning mech pads and sump sludge every day on 26 tanks its driving me insane!!!!!.... My 100 gal heavily stocked Aquaponics system requires no matinence what so ever so i'm duplicating that on a larger scale with the plants. To clean the setteling chamber all i need to do is siphon out the sludge while the whole system is still running or drill a hole for a ball valve/drain. This overhead sump will run off 2 submersible Mag 24's or the largest submersible i can find lol. I will also be setting up a 2'x2'x8' standard style sump drilled at the top 6" of the tank and powered by a Reeflo hammerhead gold 5,000 gph. I opted to not use this pump to draw water from the tank but rather to shoot it back in at the highest gph i can get for water circulation. Above the 2'x2'x8' sump sits two drilled 55 gals (already have) for socks or bioballs for some extra overkill on filtration. This should handle everything no problem on a pretty cheap budget. My sump boxes are being made to hold the fish initally so im getting a pretty good bang for my buck. Kills me to spend money on anything i can just make or piece together from what i have. These boxes will be simple 3/4" plywood, 2x4, and pondliner.
