Metal monster 3k

Thats just crazy, lol , But then again I am thinking how I can get a larger system in my basement as well, But unfortunatly I do not have as large of a basement as you do. I planned to much living space in my house vs fish space, lol

Heres the future kitty dungeon lol...its roughly 8'x12-14' and already coated walls, ceiling and floor in blue max just for humidity. View attachment 932663

Ive been debating if the walls can take the pressure but i think if i toss a liner on the floor...screw it into the walls and only fill about 18"-20" of water it should b fine.

Been following your builds here.. love the basement setup man.

I have a tank using my basement corner walls and floors and so far no problems. Its at 5ft deep now but was at 6ft at one time. I don't know how thick your walls are, but if your foundation was poured as one piece you're probably fine. My walls are 8in thick and the floor 4in thick.

How deep were you wanting to go? I'm also interested on what you're going to do at the end to seal it off as a wall.

Thanks for the words of encouragement davidr! I agree it should be more than fine with a low water height. Didysis im trying to get back some space for humans haha...its kinda stupid this room under the porch is even there so i may aswell use it temporary for my cat move. Its either this room or build a temp pond in the middle of my fish room which will be a much bigger nusiance. This blue room already has a plug in it too for electric :) i think the previous owner used it for a "secret garden" lmao...

spiff that's very promising! thanks for ur info and experience with this issue. I only need around 18-24" of water at best to keep my cats happy. There hollow cinder blocks and the end is already half enclosed for a doorway so I plan on just using some 2"x12" boards to cover the hole (doorway) and drop a pond liner in behind that. Very make shift pond but I know if I make it too permenant and well built ill end up leaving it running haha....I have an extra piece of acrylic I can throw in the doorway also for a window lol....Ill take down my plastic door and get a good pic of the entry way of the room.

Ah, gotcha. Well hopefully those blocks aren't really hollow, but filled with cement and rebar. But at that depth you should be fine either way with the weight of the house pushing down on the walls.

Just curious, why wouldn't you want to make it permanent? You actually have more options with the block walls I think.. its easy to go through.. you could put some or all the utility on the other side of the wall in a utility shed or something.. and strategically placed exhaust fans... you name it.

even if its just temporary for your cats.. it would be a great turtle pond. I hear turtles (other than softshells) can scratch the heck out of an aquarium.. even glass ones. I would hesitate to put any in my pride and joy tank.

this is a awesome thread im hoping to one day have something very similar! but ive been telling my fiance that theres a man needing my help moving big tanks in ohio i might need to go for a couple days! lol she said are you getting paid and i told her with knowledge and fulfillment of watching fish get a really good home!

Spiff....i dont want it permenant because theres just too many tanks down there already lol...i prob got around 4k already in 20 tanks. The room also gets very cold in the winter...may be a good place for my koi tho.

I do bodybuilding also as a hobby and consume about 5k calories per day. :) So if we didn't finish fast enough I might eat you out of house and home lol.
