MMA News and Notes

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah I remember it now,and in another post it was Maxx who said that mma is dead and Sumo said that it wasn't going anywhere.

It appears I "misremembered" like my good friend Roger Clemens, he said it was dying in numbers etc. In the mayweather pacquio thread.

I remember that post. He actually wasn't trolling. Was referring to PPV buys and in house attendance being down for MMA

thank you! my faith in lounge humanity restored. I actually am never trolling btw

what diesel says that I said don't even sound like me lol.

I said mma has been struggling the last couple of years. but so far this year it has been doing well. hope the trend keeps up.

house attendance selling out doesn't really tell the whole story. I know diesel said that vegas was packed during a fight night, but the real story is in the ppv numbers.

speaking of which, the ronda rousey card is said to do around 600k which is way above anyone's expectations. but this is the estimate, not true numbers yet. (although "true" numbers aren't really known, they can get it close)

I was wrong I can admit that. I may be a species of troll. But I don't live under a bridge.

A lot of the old stars are fading fast. No GSP, Silva failing test after test, plus a lot of belts have become seemingly stagnant. It used to be 2-3 belts had a good home. The rest were constantly changing hands. Jones and Rousey are untouchable. Aldo is a Brazilian god. Welterweight is gonna bounce between Lawler and Hendricks. Weidman and Cain can't stay healthy. And they are still selling out shows!!!

You go tell rousey that, I didn't say it. I personally see a bunch of girls who are good strikers or good brawlers. Very few well rounded talents. Therefor I think she's onto something. Right now she's like gracy at the beginning of UFC. Just cleaning house

I know you didn't say it. you made it clear that she said it.

I was just giving my 2 pennies. I agree that next gens will be better. but not necessarily for the reasons she stated. it will be true in some cases and not others so it's a little inaccurate. that's all

I saw your post right after I posted mine. it's cool, no harm done. when I saw what you said I already knew that you were just remembering wrong.

again, ppv buys is the real indicator. but this year is having more success so far regardless of the recent drug fails. upcoming cards also look promising, just hope everyone can stay healthy

Yea dirty piss is the conundrum. It's what saved baseball with Sosa and McGwire and makes sports entertaining. We love seeing home runs, knockouts, 3 minute miles, 9 second 100 yard dashes, 70 yard hail mary's, 50" vertical leaps, but we hate dirty piss. modern sports would be crap without PEDS. No advocating their use, but stating that they have been a very real part of pro and amateur sports for the last 30 years.

There will always be guys that fade and retire and new guns that rise up. With the amount of injuries these guys go through its amazing how long some of them can have a belt for and careers
