That has to suck...We paid extra for our 150 to have thicker glass just for that reason. The 8' 240 is 5/8". I can't imagine a 220 built out of 1/2" stock.

Is it because the tank is 30" tall that 1/2" thick is bad?

My 125g (22" high) is 3/8" thick and the 120g (24" high) I plan on getting 1/2" thick.

Hehehe me too. Mines 1/2 inch as well and it's braced very well with three glass cross members and a steel rod underneath. Man that has to suck big time. I would be sh**in my pants if I heard and seen it happen. Man I can't even Imagine.
