The world of fishkeeping. I scuffed a foot over an area rug in the rec room and found this underneath. Two month old hrp fish n' chips. Weird...call Alfred Hitchcock...
The Queen of Queens, Pip. It all started with her. Every one of her striped descendants has the same broken line patterrn like an open triangle above the gill plate. It's the official family 'stamp.' Her gold rimmed eyes give her a wild appearance. Most of her female line have darker eyes. With the striped males it's the opposite...quite a few of them have her gold eyes. Sexual dimorphism? Like all the dominant females she maintains a dark pattern. Her blues are intense based on mood.
Hulk shows up when he sees the camera. The big dork is a mama's boy (er fish) and refuses to leave her side. He still tries to bully her at times and it doesn't work. She either ignores his aggression or moves away. When pissed she'll pop him on his nuchal hump. For size scale, the two airstones are 2 inches around. Hulk is just over 6 inches, Pip over 4.
Never shy about the camera, Boss is the tank sentinel. He observes everything and often watches for me at mealtime down the hall. He'll patiently hover at the front of the tank.
A cichlids's work is never done. The tank bosses constantly arrange the stones of their giant pit. Every grain of sand is cleared from the center as well. Boss sleeps in his large log off to the right. Brick sleeps in the cleared area of the pit.
