My 240 ply tank started

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No leaks so far:naughty: .. filled up as high as I could with the plumbing not completed .. have some PVC fittings to pick up and finish the drain piping .. had to modify the garbage can filters due to lack of space .. when I get everything figured out I will post a pic

slimmer .. I used GE 2 XST paintable formula .. I then sealed it with 6 coats of Zavlar since the silicon isnt safe for fish (additives to make it paintable) .. good luck with your build

Well its holding water:naughty:

had a few hickups but nothing serious .. I had a check valve at the pump to stop siphoning but due to the pressure from the amount of pipe I went with 2 inline check valves instead

instead of the bowl drip tray idea I went with a simpler spray bar .. just coupled it together so I can remove the bar to service the garbage can filters

Just have to get the tank to temp .. then get this cycle started:naughty:

Tank hasn't shown any signs of leaks so i went ahead and sealed the rest of the outside

Well what can I say .. LETS ADD FISH

P2170026.jpg

that is a 5 gallon bucket just to show the size of the piranha (11" diam).. there are 10 P's all together .. the biggest being 10" and the smallest is 7"

Well thats it .. thats all .... when i get back to work (hopefully soon) I plan on building a cabinet around the tank .. but for now this is how it stays .. hope you enjoyed following as much as I enjoyed making it :headbang2

Watching this thread has made me so miffed that I can't keep working on mine. Laid off and big tanks don't mix very well. This thread is an inspiration though, thanks for the journey.

Very nice, wish I had the time to dedicate more to my build. My target date is around 1st of April (or maybe the 2nd ;) )

Good work,

Bear

I made one of those plywood tanks many years back. I lined the plywood inside with plexiglass, and used one piece of tempered glass for the front. It never leaked a drop. I would suggest using a 100% sylicone sealant.
