Nice setups guys , im building one to do my 540g im building as well as all my other tanks , my question is only 2 of my tanks have sumps is there a way to do a drip system on a tank without a sump , maybe by using small pvc overflows? or u think they would loose there prime??

It depends, if you don't take out more then you have in the sump them you are ok but you don't want the sump to go dry.

I've tried with the DIY PVC overflow, it didnt work well. Repair has a couple going with normal HOB Overflows though

So if you do a gravel vac/wash. Do you just wait for the drip to catch your tank/sump volume back???

It takes me long enough to do a gravel vac I have to refill when I do it.

Cool system !!! What is the latest on the normal closed valves for the supply and overflows?

I could do this real easy on my 300 this fall but would like to have the fail safe measures in place.

It turns out that if you drill the hole high enough (assuming your sump is big enough) you don't have to worry about it.

Also, I started using a float switch/pump setup in my 300. That also eliminates the need for any solenoid valves for drain. If you use the pump setup it's a good idea to put one on the supply line.

Cool, I'll have to do some calculating.

The outlet of the filter is reduced to 1/4" line to go to the drip emitter. once again, cat optional.

Here is the drip line (small) and the drain from the sump (large).
