At the moment he's the best feeder I've got. Eats anything just out of curiosity I tried flakes and he smashed the like it was krill or squid.

The toga took a chunk of squid today... First bit of food he's eaten in a while... He didn't demolish it basically inhaled it but at least he ate it.

Personally I've never really been into African cichlids but one of my friends had a nice setup. He also had random deaths with no apparent problems. He once got a massive outbreak of white spot even though he hadn't added any new fish or rock or anything for over a month. Killed off half his tank in less than a fortnight despite him treating the water.

Sometimes keeping fish is just difficult. But then again nothing good comes easy.

Lol u should decommission the Malawi tank and turn it into an Aussie native or rainbowfish setup. Or use it for another toga.:)

I quite like the setup because its different , although they do get a bit boring once your used to monsters ;) its my 4x2x2 tank my first jar grew up in until I had to upgrade lol , I think when I move house I'll do a smaller Malawi setup and stick my jag pair or a dovii in that tank

I wish I still had pics of my mate's cichlid tank. 4x2x2 like yours he didn't have anything too spectacular but his colony of electric yellows was second to none. Never have I seen anyone so pedantic about yellows than him. When he bred them (they bred like flies for him) even the fry looked amazing.

But my influence got the better of him and he got rid of everything to house a mangrove jack. Personally I like the jack better but even I was impressed with his Africans.

Very nice. I like the light you're using for it.

If your jar is already causing trouble at his size it's probably going to get worse later on. I think the guys at seachem will have to boost production of stress coat because of your toga in the near future.

I'm pretty happy that my guy is fairly easy going... So far at least.

Hahaha I know mate I need gallons of the stuff and melafix ;) im desperate to try grow a few of the cichlids up I'm the grow out and get them in the main tank with him now , the plan is stick them all in and see what he ends up playing nice with , that's what I did with the last toga and ended up with a beast of a jag and not much else appart from catfish :D hoping to house at least a couple of cichlids this time around but we'll see he's already bossing the fh and JD

How's yours today any more eating ? If he's taking fresh foods confidently try seasoning it with crushed pellets to get him used to the taste usually helps a little once serious pellet training starts

Just tried some food now that I'm home from work but no luck. The funny thing is that when I first got him he was taking pellets very eagerly. Now he just hovers around scaring his tankmates with his size. Looks like I've got a big scaredy cat lol
