Awesome tank bro!!!!! I have one question, and I don't know if you mentioned this already, but what did you put on the corners inside the tank? Did you just seal it up with epoxy paint or did you put some sort of filler? Thanks!

Thanks,
All seams and imperfections in the wood were filled with bondo and sanded prior to epoxy. Then all seams were given a healthy bead of silicone for good measure.

Got 5 tetras in the tank. tested the water it was good so I put them in to help start the BB colony. Think I am gonna try A school of 10 with the SAs. Hope they will not be lunch. Pics tonight as promised.

Pics with filter on. A bit cumbersome, but works like a charm. Only issue I have is that the right pump somehow occasionally sounds like it is sucking air, but I think it is just cavitating. Only does it once in a while so no big deal.

Here you go,

Filter with light fixture out of the way.

Feed tubes for the filter.

Light fixture (not painted yet) in place.

Will post glamour shots when I get all the finish work done.

Last bits to get done;

>cabinet doors are being made for me by a friend,
>gotta do some touch up paint, as well as the detail paint another friend is going to do for me.
> Paint Light fixture
> Cut lid for filter
> get acrylic for light fixture to keep evap out
> Access lids for the tank
> Alternatively may just build a full hood for the front to hide everything.

Will keep all posted

where is your pump located? is it in the ohf. i was always told pumps dont suck they push.

Hard plumbed into the bulkhead. the pumps are below the water line.

I've always liked overhead filters. They are so much simpler and more reliable than sumps with all their irritating plumbing. The challenge lies in making the overhead filter look good. I can't wait to see the finished product...

Sorry no glamour shots yet. Looks no different than the last shots other than the 9 fish in it.

No problems, holding for a month now. Filter is great other than the huge evaporation. About 3/4" per week.

I promise finished pics soon, just too damn hot to build right now.

Well guys,

All is well after my second month. Tank cycled nicely, and I now have 11 SAs and one Africian cichlid that thinks he is a SA. ( I know, they should not be in the same tank, but it is from my clueless days and it has been living with the SAs for almost 3 years now) Only problem is high ph, and I am getting that under control.

Creeping along at a slow crawl getting all the little finish work done, and it is just too hot to get any of the woodworking done. Also waiting on my neice to get home from her summer vacation so I can use her great camera for some nice shots.
