New project, will take a long time

Man that was a lot of reading took me just about all freakin' day. Great job on the build though. I started my pond last year and still not finish digging that sucker. Then plan is 8 by 8. 3 feet deep below ground with a gazebo build around it when I'm finish. Anyway can't wait to see ur finish with ur .

Post some pictures, I'd love to see the dig so far, if you do link me the thread:)

Opened the valve again on the system and the same pipe leaks, now this is a problem because obviously the second out side repair failed, so it needs to be done from the inside to which access is now impossible as the brace would have to come down which would mean the pond would collapse.

So I came up with the idea of going through the inside of vortex one with my arm through the intake pipe it was just possible to reach the inside join to seal it with the epoxy putty:

The good news is that the pipes between one and two have no leaks and the tank connector repair on vortex one no longer leaks

Return started

First off I located something that would work:

All cleaned up and handles removed, fits okayish, I would rather have more room between the sides of the bin and the vortex but for now it will do.

K1 ready:

Drilling many many holes in a bin is mindnumbingly boring and my drill is out of power and charging hence why I'm posting this

Brother that is great news!...
Inside a vortex, upside down, in the dark, with Epoxy putty, blind handed...

That has got to be the most extreme PVC repair ever...:D:D

Quick call Guinness Book of World Records...we have got to have a record here! http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/

Can you cut slots without hurting the integrity of the barrel?

Maybe it will catch on as a new extreme sport:ROFL:

Amazing, I was sat here thinking the same thing, not sure enough to try it, but in an hour or so maybe I'll just go for it, when I'm really bored if drilling holes;).

that good the leaks are fixed. I hate drilling hole like this. It takes forever!
Well, it depends if the one I just did sorts the problem or I'll have to do more extreme repairs;)

Still not tested the join between 2 and 3 but I'm waiting a lot longer than normal because half the last repair was in water and although it will set underwater it doesn't give any guidelines as to how long it takes, I might leave it overnight.

It does take forever but for now I think it's the best way

I think if you cut slots it would be fine as long as you didnt make them to long or to close together but it would take alot less time.
I know but it's starting to get dark and I don't think I'll have the return done today anyway, I'm just waiting an hour at a time for the drill to charge and once I'm into the rhythm it's not too bad. If I just keep drilling until I go to bed I should have enough holes, leave the repair to go off overnight and it should be a simple(because everything always is:ROFL:) matter of putting everything together in the morning. Plus it's not the thickest plastic in the world, I know slots are the quickest way to go but I think I'll end up with better filtration this way(based on no facts what so ever;))

You know, if you are drilling symmetrically you could make the slots offset to each other and still maintain strength...
