Great! My new filter brushes came in the mail. CRAP! Look how much they charged me to bring them to Costa Rica. They barely even cost that much. If you all see me doing weird stuff when I get to my filter and pump system, this could be the reason.

Really filling the holes with grout so that the pebbles don't chip off with all of the traffic.

The retaining wall will be covered by plants.

Here's the beginning of my filter. It's based on my filter/skimmer. I'm converting the garbage pail into a giant leaf basket. I'll then put about 4 lines of 5, 4 inch filter brushes. Then the water will pass through about 6 layers of filter matting before entering the clean water tank where the main pump will pump the water back under and up into the bog. If there are any suggestions along the way feel free to comment.

The last picture are the future hogs that will go in the pond. Ok, maybe little hogs.

Here we go! They finally finished the back rock work of the bog area. The wire fence/leaf catcher went up on top of the retaining wall.

Looks like the helaconia bloom will be a nice one.

Here's the fine layer of concrete on the steps.

I have the heleconia's coming in this Saturday so I need all of the tubing under the dirt. The bad dirt needs to be taken out and the good dirt brought in.

We are finally starting on the big fountain. This is the first layer of rocks to build up some bulk. We'll place nicer rocks later.
