instead of stirring it i dont know if you already have but putting a air pmp running to the bottom will help as the bacteria will have more oxygen and it keeps it all stirred up

since this is a nitrate filter the bacteria is anoxic no oxygen allowed !!! but thanks for the idea......it will work for a bio filter but not a nitrate filter

How did you end up with the design for the mechanical stirring of your media? Also wasn't able to figure out how you deoxygenated the water before running it into the filtration system. Could you elaborate on that for me?

the oxygen is removed in the filter....usually within about 12 inches

mechanical stirring is by propellers on a long shaft....built and to be installed soon

Do you plan on stirring the whole filter system? Or just the portion that is already oxygen depleted above the bottom 12"? Is there a collection of detritus that needs to be removed on the bottom of your filter canisters?
