Hey i'm back.

I said you should've got rays from the start. But "NOOOOOOO" you said, and looky here never say no, because you'll be surprise what you may want next.

But Rays won't sting you as long as you don't bother them, i've messed around with rays, I would slide my hand under them and bring them closer to the surface to get a better look as long as you don't STEP, PULL ON THEM, POKE, you should be just fine. But Pacu, and some cichlids will nip or take a few bites off of them.

Wow. This has got to be one of the best threads on here. I stumbled across it & totally got sucked in. Your pond is AWESOME & not ghetto at all ... its making me wish I could sneak a pool in downstairs!!!

 hahahahahaha...

I really need to do more research on rays before I take the plunge. My pond doesn't have sand, but gravel and stones, doesn't seem to be ideal.

My nitrates are usually in the 20-40ppm levels, don't know if Rays would thrive in those levels.

I officially hate my PACU. I moved him to the pond as a trial. He bit:

1. One of the barbels of the silver.
2. Chewed up the fins of the ID Sharks.
3. Roughed up the Giant Gourami.
4. Electrical cord of the pumps

I moved it back to the tank and forgot that I just put in newly bought powerheads without protection for the electical cord and this morning, I saw the electrical cord of the new powerheads all chewed up. I touched it underwater and it burned my finger!

oh, and did I mention...I HATE Pacus! As in I detest them! I hope all the PACUs in the world die!

I'm gonna gouge out its eyes and drop him into a pail of heavily chlorinated water, then I will slice him up and remove all its scales and tape him up so he can't move! I swear, I'm gonna go postal on this Pacu! I'm gonna youtube the video of my torture and elicit all those nasty PETA comments :naughty:

Pacus are too bony. Taste is kinda bland. Tilapias on the other hand...yum yum.

That was the initial plan. But then I saw these two 2 foot long ID sharks and plans changed.

I initially wanted to keep just veggie eaters, because I didn't want to bother myself to be enslaved to buying frozen fish every so often...BUT...then I needed to rescue two giant Aros who were running out of space and air, just change of plans again.

Although Paroons still look a bit cooler, I'm gonna be okay now with the two IDs.

And the two Silvers will be pretty much the two meat eaters I'm having in the pond for now.

The next stage is I'm planning for Rays, but who knows what kind of monsters might need rescue in the next couple of months :)
