This was how I chose to "temporarily" cover the pond, with a tarp. There is an open space created by the PVC pump where the aro jumped out of.

Jumped out in the middle of the night...

A shade under 29"

Even in death they look majestic and regal

He's about 2.5 years old I believe

This guy was the grouchier of the pair

Pic with TJ, my Boston

Final resting place: RIP

Parting shot, my boston pronates to get my attention and cheer me up

Exactly, at times I feel sad about the loss; other times, I feel anger, it's like grrrrr, you *%&$^# fish, why did you jump!? :irked:

sorry about ure loss man...wat a shame...i think leaving small gaps with the tarp makes things worse...cuz they see a bright light coming from the gap...and it kinda makes them wana jump out of it...just a thought tho im not sure...

You have a good point there, but I have good reason to believe that the guy jumped out when it was pitch dark. At night, there is no source of light and the household help wake up at the crack of dawn. When he was found (early in the morning), he was all dried up.

Pan-fried silver arowana. That deserves a place in the menu!

By the way, is it the whiter(shinier or brighter, whatever) of the two you rescued?
