Thru 1'' hose into the bottom,
thru mix of Sera Siporax and EhfiMech (coarse mechanical and some bio),
then EhfiFix (finer mechanical),
then Ehfi Substrat pro, then Ehfi Substrat (bio),
then filter floss (final polish),
out on top, thru the pump, back into the tank

What was your reason for not choosing the fx5 filter which can be bought for 200 shipped and filters a claimed 607GPH. It would seem you could purchase 2 fx5's shipped and have 1 of them about filled with media for the base price of this filter.
- I'm in it for the long run. Eheim classics are proven (my oldest is in its 19th year of continuous operation). FX5 came out 3 years ago, and you can find plenty of teething problems when you browse this forum. I rather spend the money up front and rest assured that I won't have filter failure in the next couple of decades.
- media capacity 2262: 4.8 gal
media capacity FX5: 1.5 gal
--> you'd have to get 3 FX5 to have the biopower of one 2262
- Flow is equivalent between both filters, and I do not want a higher turnover rate on my tank. Once you achieve good mechanical filtration, increasing turnover doesn't do any good unless you house fish from fast-flowing streams. Imagine your fish in a whirlpool...
- Particles are filtered out by media and gravity. Both work in my favor. The FX5 pump is on the bottom, subject to sediment. I hope I am wrong for the sake of all those FX5 owners out there, but I wouldn't be surprised if impeller units were grinding down.
- I like the clean looks of one hose in, one hose out. I wouldn't want the clutter of multiple units.
All in all, a very easy decision. FX5 is a great mechanical filter, 2262 combines great mechanical with superior biofiltration. Consider the money you spend on your /\/\onsterfish, and then rationalize being cheap on filtration, the heart, liver, and lungs of your ecosystem. Didn't make sense to me, so I got the 2262.
