it really depends.
for blacks,i have no experience in multiples but have heard that theyre very aggressive to each other.like ery ery.
what are the dimensions on the 220?
i would say it depends once again since i dont think you'll just have wolves only in the tank?

my 220 is 6x24x30.

as far as others in the tank... really all I wanted several wolves and i would be happy with that. and a pleco to keep things clean. lol

6 foot?
IMO you could fit like 6-8 full grown malas in there...
seeing as to how many dont move much.
they also seem to like to pile on one another much like bichirs IME.
of course, filtration is important if you have that many wolves...

I am currently running a filstar xp3 (350gph)and a xp2 (300gph) running on the tank. This totals 650 gph / 220 = 2.95 turn over per hour.

I have thought about getting the Fx5 with 925 gph

What's your thoughts.

The FX5 runs at around 600gph w/ media according to fluval....

2.95 is no where near what it should be, on my 220 I run a wet/dry at 700+gph, a FX5 w/ dual returns and a AC110. So that is a cycle rate of 8+ times an hour... Also I would highly recommend using a wet/dry on 180 gallons and up.

I would say if you want a pack of wolves you would need to shoot for a turn overrate close to the same.

Thank you for your help.

I have been wanting to increase my filtration. I will look into a wet/dry and is there a better filter that you would recommend other than a FX5 ?
