The variegated plant looks like Dracaena sanderiana.Not a true aquatic plant.

i don't really know what it is. i was pretty sure it wasn't a "true aquatic" because of how stiff the leaves are. i've had it for about 6 weeks and it seems to be doing ok. i don't think it's bamboo though.

That plant is commonly known as lucky bamboo. It is a Dracaena species, and is not fully aquatic.
