at the tennessee aquarium they have a large school of peacock bass with a school of piranhas. the piranhas tend to stay towards the back and the peacock bass were right up front looking for attentions. they also has a few plecos in there with them. the plecos were very large and didn't seem to mind anyone.
yeah well it's a massive tank. If I'm not mistaken they also house one of the world's only whale sharks in captivity. Good luck trying to re-create those same conditions in your home.

Thanks, that answers my question (about which zoo). My gf works at the airport and i can practically anywhere and only pay the tax on the tickets. Tenn. doesn't sound like a very appealing place to fly though just to check out a zoo. lol

man I love TN. I'm biased. I grew up in Alabama. My whole family is from TN. I used to skip class in high school and drive up to the aquarium. It's pretty bad ass. While you're there you could check out Lynchburg where Jack Daniels is made. Or nashville. I have some stories about nightlife in nashville which would totally blow your mind. The fetish party at club Karma (if there's still such a place).... May not be gf friendly though...I guess it depends on your gf.

Nah, not this gf. Which city in TN is the aquarium in? I have heard nashville has a pretty good night life.

The aquariums in the NW are crap. There's Point Defiance in Tacoma, Washington that has a couple of belugas which are pretty cool but that's the highligh of the aquarium portion. The zoo portion makes it worth it though. Then there's the Oregon Coast Aquarium. Claim to fame was it was the home of keiko (Free Willy) before it was transported to iceland where he it died. Now they specialize in deepwater creatures that frankly...aren't all that exciting.

i'm planning on hitting Vancouver BC next year to see the orcas. I know that's a bit further north but around your neck of the woods.

I personally have two raphael catfish and a common pleco in with my RBP. Yeah the piranha nips at the catfish every once in a while, but for the most ignore them(though they usually are out more at night. The pleco doesn't seem to care, and will defend itself against the much larger piranha. The piranha is about 8 inchs or so, the catfish are between 3.5-4.5 inchs and the pleco about 2.5-3
