That's funny you should say that. In another thread they were saying that they were all sterile and that they were all male. ????? We'll see how they turn out.

Gald to here they are fertile. Get used to your severums being bad parents. They are notorious for it. They might figure it out after a few tries though.

You called it. I caught Dad eating the eggs!:irked: I moved him to the other side of the barrier. He took about half or more.

I wish they had used the rock I put in there for them. I could have easily taken it out and put it in another tank.

We'll see if any make it out of this batch,, if not, we'll try again.

Sorry to here that. It's not uncommon for fish that are usually good parents to eat the eggs on the first few tries. Severums are known to be bad parents though, so they might learn, or they might not. The line bred strains such golds and reds even seem to be much worse parents. It's like the lack of genetic diversity drove the parental instincts right out of them.

The fact that they cared for them this long is a good sign that they will improve on future tries though. Post some pictures if and when you have wigglers!!

Can you take some full body shots of the female? Other members are hesistant on red serverums to be all males because of the worming on the face. Curious if your female has some worming on her face. Also, females do tend to have less red on the body.

This female doesn't seem to have a lot of worming on her face....so I guess mine are both males :cry::cry:
