You know, I go back a re-read everything I type. I seriously should have a spellchecker and grammar checker running at all times while posting. Honestly though, my brain gets moving in all sorts of strange directions while I work and post at the same time. It's not easy answering some IT guys questions while thinking of fish tanks. That's what I get for posting and giving tech support at the same time; Kinda hard to spell "Intended" When typing "PCI\VeVen_8086Dev_&2a47&subsys_02331028&rev07"

Basslover and many others have been pulled into your leading ways. Basslover sent me an IM specifically apologizing for the flame wars. My responce beforehand however was being written at the saem time Basslovers reply to you was written thus he was not mentioned. It was sheer luck that his post was submitted before mine.

I don't have time or use for your reply however as it is a direct attack and has zero constructive points in it.

Sterling, I'm in the twin area. Where abouts are you?

Ok, and now that that has been said, we can move in the direction that this thread was designed for.
I feel even more confident now...

I feel you man. I haven't been involved in this thread yet, but I think it's a great scientific way to test out a cost effective idea. Sometimes you have to ignore the naysayers here. Usually this site is so constructive and supportive, I'm not sure why it is that some ideas attract so much negative attention from one or two bored people who say something they can't back up, and then can't admit they are wrong... or even that they don't know whether they are right or not.

Anyways, keep up the good work - you encountered som unfounded criticism so you're putting your money where your mouth is and testing the idea out. You're inspiring me to get started on my long overdue upgrade to my TSN/Silver Aro tank, in which I plan to use a few ideas a lot of people have dumped on because they don't understand them.

Thank you Dr Joe.

Ok, so back on topic. I have not been back to the tank to check in on it. I work 12-14 hours days 4 days a week and with the issue my friend is having I decided to put everything off until Wed night. Then I can work through the night, etc and the rest of the week on making more progress.

I am going to be buying another kit of epoxy, sanding the current coat down and apllying coats until completely gone. I'll be coating the brace/s (depending on if I choose to use 2 rather than one) as well. Once that's done I will be installing the glass. I estimate first water to be saturday night or sunday if the coats dry well.

The next part I hope to start on will be the decor. I am holding off on the customer canopy.. I may decide to do the stand base frame as well.

Thank cvermuelen, I appreciate good criticism and I hope that i do inspire people to tackle new projects. It's that drive that I like to see in the hobby that propels it to new levels. Heck 30 years ago, it wasn't much of a hobby.. the DIY aspect anyway. we've made leaps and bounds in system setups and filtration, not to mention design and sealing. I'm pretty sure concrete background are a fairly new idea.. lol.. imagine UGJ's being gone without someone named Mark trying it out...

You know...if you set up a web cam on the tank, we could make sure it's safe when your not there! :D

Hey, some of us have nothing better to do than watch paint dry anyway .

And afterwords it could go in the tank like Johnptc's cam (if you haven't seen that, DON'T... I looked and started pricing concrete! :nilly:

I figured we had a day and a half to kill here before the next up date anyway.

I'll see what I can do for updates. I am actually thinking about hittin the Dumpter tonight and seeing if anything sparks an idea. I might even got to radio shack and get the items for making the DIY LED spotlights.

Oh, forgot about those.

I used a small clear suction cup for above the bottom and a large one for under the substrate, SS screw, solid copper 22ga phone wire and just wrapped it around the screw and bent the wire to point it. Then a little silicone to seal it all. Cut into shell/stones to hide them too.

Blues in the foreground/background, reds in the caves and other hiding places.

Moonlighting was by cold cathode lamps liberated from copiers and fax machines.

Always wanted to train a fish to turn the lights on/off but I'm not THAT patient.

I did hook up a motor to a bio-wheel once to act as a generator, I got one LED lit :D.

The new high power LEDs could make for some interesting plant light spotlights.
