Stealth heater crapped out on me.

the problem with the slealth is that there is no indicator light.

it can stay stuck in the ON position and you don't realize it as easily as you do with other heaters like the Ebo that have the traditional light.

I never bought into the slealth hype because of the lack of the light.

I just use the Ebo and I use a heater guard to prevent breakage. its simple.

i have 2 250 watt stealth heaters in my 150 gallon tank (sitting in the sump) and ive had em for 3 months and the tempurature has not changed from what ive set it too (79-80 degrees) i have an older marineland heater thats been goign strong for 5 years

good to hear you didnt lose any fish

and no 90 degree tempuratures wont fry your bacteria the warmer the water is the faster they multiply (up to a certain point where they die)

All of the cheap hobby heaters are unreliable, they will eventually break, usually catastrophically. I feel like the best combo is a Ranco controller and a couple Stealths. The Ranco will provide the accuracy and reliability, while the Stealth has a lifetime warranty and great costumer service.

im beginning to think that my two 250s cant heat up my 225 right. might have to return both and get some ebos.

update:

just checked on drfosters. they have new stealths pros with new indicator lights. might return my new old styles and get the new ones.

lol I managed to pack 4 dead cichlids that have been in the freezer for 6 months in with my returned heater. We shall see if marineland has anything to say about that.

wow, well i'm glad that after 2 straight year of use, the eheim jager i use is still runnning perfectly. get a jager guys, they are awesome. i also have a theo heater too that's like almost 1.5 years old now. except for the outside paint being gone into the water, she is working perfectly too. still, the jager is better built though than the theo, no doubt on that one.

Yup im running a 200 watt Jager I got this AM. Its kept perfect temps and Im loving the indicator light. I forgot to get a guard for it but ill grab one tomorrow. But I also got the heat controller (Link above) Just in case. I figure I can use the controller for safety for years to come. :)

I also had a 200 watt stealth go screwy a while back. I don't think it was stuck on constantly, It seemed more like no matter how much I turned it down, my temp was always around 83 degrees.

I have two of the new stealth pro's on the way for another 75 gal i'm going to be getting. At least they have the light. On a side note, i've never had trouble with any of the other five stealths of various sizes i'm running.

What size tank was the 200 stealth on V1xIII ?
