Stealth heater crapped out on me.

lol I managed to pack 4 dead cichlids that have been in the freezer for 6 months in with my returned heater. We shall see if marineland has anything to say about that.

That's great.

I think i'll get a controller for my heater.

I'm also a little worried about my little cheapo tetra 50w preset heater that's in 3 gallons with my betta and otto. If that does a runaway they're boiled in 5 minutes probably.

I thought SOMEBODY might get a kick out of that. (Though NC_nutcase thought it was funny too) Being a sociopath my lines are blurred for humor ;)

The controller in my 5th post back looks promising. Zenzzo uses one. Ill let you know how it works if you like.

I use visitherm's deluxe 300w & 200w in my 72g BF discus tank. so far so good & I bought them used. temps accurate to the exact settings & they have a lite & easy set temp read outs.

I heard/read that the stealths have had some mfr defects.

so I recommend their cheaper deluxe lines.

www.kensfish.com has some good prices on various brands.

sorry to hear of your loss.

Thanks , luckily no losses and the fish seem to be doing well.

i have been using stealths for years and have never had on break or go haywire,i never have a temp drop or rise it keeps all my tanks at 79 degreees winter too and my tanks are in a basement, good luck with the new heater

Oh I definitely did. Ill keep you guys posted as to what they have to say about it. :headbang2:ROFL:

I am not trying to get anybody to switch heaters! Just sharing my unfortunate experience of having two fail. Apparently im not the only one though.. :(

You guys make me want to swap my stealth's out for ebo's..

Ebo's are not as good as they use to be. Ever since they switched owner a while back their quality went down hill. My last two Ebo's could not even keep my temp in my tanks stable. Took them out and never looked back. So far my 6 tanks are running Stealth heaters for a year now and no problems yet. My temp stay at a constant 82 degrees.
I will also never buy a hydro again. Had one crack in my sump and it never shut off. Went to feed my fish and felt a little shock. Lucky for me I did not do any gravel clean that day. If I did I would of been dead. I also noticed after that my other Hydro had condensation inside the glass tube. Took them out and bought Stealth heaters.
