congrats! i suppose that with a 2 inch layer of substrate you may be able to touch the bottom. Plus if you're using a python to vacuum the tank you should have no problem reaching the bottom with that. as for moving stuff around try a 10 inch pair of tweezers for plant maintenance... for the lightweight stuff. It works great.

I look forward to pictures of the eel

Just was wondering, aclockworkorange, you mentioned glass heaters are out dated. What else is there? I've never seen any thing else available at the store?

HAHAH!! Yeah, I'm not into boring titles.. and I love saying "That's what he/she said."!!

Thank you very much!! Yeah, that's actually how I do it.. but I gave my whole 55g setup to a good friend and that's where I would get all my stuff from.. it had a lot of flat rock that I would use.. .. maybe I could use the manzanita I have in my 40b, all the other deco is small, and I don't know if it would have a substantial impact on the BB.. thoughts??
The manzanita would help....you could always have your friend buy some new media for the 55g...and swap some of the old(not all of it), for some of the new. And do the same w/ the 40.

damn fishmamma, i was actually looking at the EXACT same tank up here in Canada.... you would never guess the price of the thing... its 1700$ here. and thats only for the tank stand and the lid, no lights or filteration!!!!!!!!! it drives me mad!!!! i have been looking for cheap tanks forever here but we have absolutely no locally owned fish places... so its either petland or petsmart.... lucky girl hope you enjoy it...
i might have to end up buying the tank for 475$ then building my own stand -.-....
Wow! That's a lot of money for the same thing.. sorry:( and the setup did not come with filteration, but I was still happy with the price and what it came with.. I will be ordering an FX5 this week, which will run me about $224 off Ebay.. but compared to other prices on the net, that sounds pretty good too.. and I would definitely go with building your stand.. it would cost you so much less..

Thanks!! Tweezers, sounds like a good idea.. when I have to stick my whole arm in there, it feels like I'm gonna fall in!! I have to stand on the couch next to it.. to maintainance the filters.. :ROFL:I feel retard!!! Nonetheless it's all fun, even if I get my whole entire body wet by doing it... :D

You know I might not have to add anything from the looks of it.. tank is going great, pertaining to water quality... after the first time you mentioned putting some used media.. I threw in a used filter pad..that was it... ! I'm going to check the perams here in just a bit..and see where their at..

Newest family member, syno but I don't know exactly what kind.. someone please refresh my memory on that one... He is about 7" paid $35 for him, kinda expensive but I loved him at first sight so I'm happy with that... :D Oh, and the guy that was bagging him for me got pricked by it.. I was just about to tell him he shouldn't hold the bottom of the net while putting him into the bag when he screeched and walked away quickly... he was not a happy fellow... he should have known better.. :screwy:
