17-55 is the best choice for a crop camera, i only decided against it because i will upgrade to full frame in the future. 2 580ex must be awesome triggered at the same time.

I've been using a D40 with the kit 18-55 and a 70-300 macro. Although I mostly just use the 70-300 for everything these days except close-up product shots.

Hi guys, any of you guys tried the 7D and d300s?
Am plsnning to get one Dslr, but couldn't decide yet. Any suggestions would be grestly appreciated.
Pictures for compsrissons also is very helpful.:D

Panasonic lumix DMC-FZ28

:) 10mp. 18x zoom.

+1. I used to have the FZ-18. It was a fantastic camera for a point and shoot. The 18X zoom was insane (nothing like being able to carry around a 570mm equivalent in a small camera). Unfortunately it got stolen :(

I've since upgraded to the Panasonic lumix G1. It was the first of the new non-SLR interchangeable lens cameras that have started appearing on the market. I've been incredibly happy with it. I've played around with a lot of my friends' entry level DSLRs and so far I much prefer the G1. I really like the flip out LCD, the EVF and of course the compact size. Here are some sample shots.

Here's a few sample shots under pretty different conditions:
