The Dreaded Aurnati Fungus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
sorry to hear this, bottles :-(
even aside from the fungus, his general body condition isn't looking so good.

Ya, I agree.

How do the others look? this one lokks bad, almost as if somthingelse is going on with it. Have they been treated for IPs? looks as if somthing's suppressing his immune system.

I haven't treated for IPs. Two of the others look in perfect health. His condition seems to have gotten worse over the past 2 days. I'm not sure if this is related to the MB baths, but I think I'm going to stop the baths for now and stick with the Triple Sulfa and MG. I hope this guy isn't beyond saving since he was part of the dominant pair that I wanted to keep.
Is treating for IPs the next step? I haven't noticed any stringy and/or white poop, but if you think it will help I'll try it.

To be honest I'm a little torn here. I don't want to keep throwing meds at it but don't want to miss the mark either. I can't see MB doing this but agree the timing sure is suspect. I almost ready to say hit it with Metro and kanaplex but don't want to risk any more stress at the same time he looks bad right now. If you were going to medacate it further I would say isolate it for treatment but could the move have been the stressor? DC posted about the trouble he had when he moved his fish during treatment. This is why I'm up in air over this, I don't want to add this to the main tank unless the other fish are showing the same symptoms which they are not.

I'm going to do another WC in an hour or so and continue with the MG and Triple Sulfa. I'm open to ideas. I have no clue where to go from here.

Would the MG and Formalin be a better option now that my KH is up? Is switching up meds going to do more harm than good? I'd really like to save this guy.

Quick cure is MG and Formalin try it on this fish. Now that your water is adjusted it will be safe to use. In the begining it would have not been. Formalin is good against Saprolegnia, I feel more comfortable using it now.

Thanks, Tom.
After doing some quick reading, it was suggested that I use them together at half the recommended dosage for each in the tank. Does that sound right or should I use a full dosage of each on the tank?

I also like to start low and work up. That fish is stressed I would go half today and if it tolerates the formalin up the dosage tomorrow.

Thanks again.
I've already treated with MG and Triple Sulfa, so tomorrow I'll do another 50% WC and treat with a half dosage of MG and Formalin. I'll cut out the Triple Sulfa tomorrow as well.

Following....hope you guys make it.

bottles ? I hope you double check with Tom before discontinuing the triple sulpha, since that is for secondary bacterial infections in addition to buffering med sensitivity in your species.

(I know nothing, but try to ask some $100.00 questions :)
