Mods i recently discovered that market shrimp contain high concentrations of thiaminase. Is there anyway we could edit the post to recommend against feeding market shrimp?

I don't know that they contain such high levels that they are detrimental, a balanced varied diet would combat any issues from shellfish or crustaceans. The High and dangerous levels of thiaminase are within (Carassius auratus auratus) aka Comets and (Carassius auratus) Gold Fish.

first off, outstanding thread very very informative thanks to everyone who helped make it great. my question is on thiamine and thiaminase. i am under the impression that thiamine is good for you fish and is actually essential for a healthy fish but too much thiaminase can harm you fish. what should i feed RBP's/not feed so they can get one not the other or some of each? how do i avoid too much/not enough? i'm new to RBP's i want the best for my fish so any avdice on these two compunds and how to balance them would be great.

Take everything listed and come up with a mixture. The most common is pellets, market fish and market shrimp with occasional feeders and everything else thrown in as treats here and there.

However, it can easily be argued that all the same nutritions can be found in high quality pellets and you could do a pure pellet diet.

is there specific types of shrimp we should feed? reason i ask is cuz everyone has contradicting info on feeding fresh water fish saltwater fish/ inverts and vise versa. And also when feeding p's shrimp with the shell on will it stress their digestive system or are they able to break down the shell like any other meal?
