Wednesday13’s Fish Room

I still don’t understand drip systems at all.

I use a sump pump that I drop into each tank and it’s like 30mins to drain to fin level on 180’s

Then with another hose I fill it back up, the filling is slower. But once I have the water at a height where the filters can run, I run both water in and out. I think, not sure, this accounts for a greater than 100% weekly water change

Auto changers are the only thing superior to auto drip sytems IMO… to each their own tho, some people enjoy physical wc’s. I do not 😂. Got rid of 10+ saltwater tanks for that reason alone. At one point i had 37 tanks and over 5k gal. It took me 8-10hrs a day to w/c them all. It became daunting and a waste of my time/life. Its much nicer to just feed and enjoy. I only do filter maintenance once a year or for fun and my nitrates are never over 5ppm. With autodrips providing fresh water 24/7 im not forced to do any task i dont want to. When my powers out the tanks still get fresh water. Its an extra life line for things like equipment failure also. Physical water changes alone can cause more stress on fish than people realize. Alot of fish take it fine for many years… other fish can drop immediately just from the fluctuations in ph, temp, etc…

Again, this is just what works best for me. Some people dont like drips. Ida lost the last 10yrs of my life without them tho 😂

Not against them!
Just haven’t attempted.
Manual water changes is why there are about 20 empty aquariums in my shed, I cut down to 6 for now.
Next move, I will drill tanks, plumb together and focus on minimizing maintenance.

Saltwater can be a bear, I just killed my 2-3yr old reef by trusting a swing arm and managed to get my salinity double what it should be… weeee

Reefin is def. a task i agree. Still miss my salty stuff, but i dont miss the maintenance lol. I’ll add in some pics of my auto drip setup here. Its very basic, was cheap to setup and has served me well for 10+ yrs. Drilling the tank or sump is probably the hardest part of the whole setup. The rest is basically just an ice maker tap in kit, 1/4” poly lines, push fittings and drip emitters.

You’ll b back sooner than later my man 💀🤙…fishing every day is just as good tho 🤘. i haven’t done a physical water change in 8-10 yrs now with autodrips lol… round the house is over 150% per tank, per week dripped in fresh. lacking a bit on the food intake tho i agree at only once a week. The food bill alone made me cut back on half the fish room.
YES SIR.
