Wednesday13’s Fish Room

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I need to find someplace that is trying to liquidate some large format tanks like these! i can't get the 8' Tarter stock into my house and the Marineland 86'd their Deep dimensions series.

Seems all the custom tanks cost more than my car and the shipping cost more than the total build on any of my 180s

love fish rooms threads! possibly my favorite youtubes as well!

The used market is tough these days… 12-15 yrs ago when i acquired most of my tanks there was always something to be had local on craigslist. The craigslist days were far better than the current FB marketplace. Material costs are double/triple now also so in turn used stuff is way more.

Oh i know! i had the opportunity for a pretty scuffed up 300, 8 footer like 5 yrs ago but i have an aversion to acrylic tanks- that is maybe unfounded

I've never had an acrylic, aside from a tiny hex tank i kept on my kitchen counter in 2007

Lovely! Yeah bichir growth in general def is abnormal. I know Joe, Hao, and many other bichir keepers (myself included) prefer big percentage 75 percent + water changes for growth. My guess is large water changes are best for "removing" nitrates and growth inhibiting hormones as opposed to continuously diluting it so maybe worth a shot? Regardless awesome stuff. Nice selection of WC bichirs :)
Lots of water changes and daily feedings boost their growth. I fed my fish 1-2x a day and did 2-3 wc’s a week generally at 40-70%. Oh I miss tanks 🥲

You’ll b back sooner than later my man 💀🤙…fishing every day is just as good tho 🤘. i haven’t done a physical water change in 8-10 yrs now with autodrips lol… round the house is over 150% per tank, per week dripped in fresh. lacking a bit on the food intake tho i agree at only once a week. The food bill alone made me cut back on half the fish room.
