Those pictures really drive the point home about avoiding using a galvanized stock tank without a liner at all costs.

I almost did that a while ago, but I found out here on MFK that it would eventually kill my fish, so I decided against using it by itself then added a liner. I thought that everything would be fine, then some chemical from the supposedly "fish safe" liner ended up killing the fish faster than the zinc would have... Just like you, I lost some really nice fish as a result of their container leaching something into the water that proved to be deadly. Sorry for the slight derail, but I definitely know where you're coming from on this one.

That was no derail at all. Thanks for sharing. Im sorry to hear about yours. How many and what did you end up losing?

I ended up buying two marbled pims today, one is 12" and the other is 14". They are my favorite cats and I was super upset when I lost my bigger one. I also picked up two 12" florida gars today as well. My last one got eaten I think in my big tank, so these guys are going in the 300 gallon for now.

Glad the rest are well.

The bright-side is that you lose five but save many, many more by raising awareness about these stock tanks.
