What is the Most Aggressive Aquarium Salt Water Fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yes bro.. the royal grammas.. mean suckers.. Angler is 100% reef safe as long as you dont have any thing that will fit in its mouth..

I would say my Dragon eel is pretty mean.. bit me twice and left some serious teeth marks... besides that.. i couldnt stop the bleeding for 30 minutes .. T_T

If we are talking aggression only, size for size hands down will be a pseudochromis, they are mean bullies and have been known to bullie around fish 10x's their size.

If talking about king of the tank, the Octopus is king.

my triggers are pretty fearless, but i have to say that one that picks on everybody is my blue damsel... i took him out of the reef tank (due to harrassing other fish) and put him in my fish only wich has a few triggers..and a porcupine puffer, just so he would be eaten. BUT he goes after my puffer who is at least 4 times bigger, at least!!! I tip my hat to the blue damsel that wont die.

i'm gunna have to say that damsels are the most aggressive sw fish. they will attack almost anything that intrudes on thier territory. i've been bittin by some when diving. i went to a museum once and they had a big tank with sharks and eels and a pair of 4" damsels. someone asked a person there y the damsels hadnt been eaten and they said that the damsels chased bit anything that would come near them. the sharks and eels were 4'+ too.

Blue line triggers (P. fuscus) Queen Triggers, virridescens triggers & undulate triggers are about as mean as it gets.

I agree that many of the other fish listed here have some serious attitude but if all fish were the same size and were paired against each other, any of the above fish would would be the last one standing.

Tessalata eels are very agressive. I have had several of them all with bad attitudes. Green moray are a close second to the tessalata. Dragon moray are pretty mild manored.

Many grouper are pretty mean, like miniatus for example but, Panther grouper are wusies.

Contrary to popular belief, Barracuda are wimps and often get killed in agressive aquariums, same goes for sharks and rays.

Royal gramma are not pseudochromis and are not mean fish. True pseudochromis are mean for thier size but again, if paired against most triggers of the same size, they wouldn't stand a chance.

Puffers are major wussies....

Hey, they are all really cool fish. I don't care who the meanest is, I like them all.....

The most aggresive fish ive seen is a Domino Damsel LOL. It had to be housed alone cause it kept killing stock. It then got placed in a massive aquarium with Triggers, puffers, eels, and a shark, and its still there... :O

Most aggressive fish I've ever owned or even seen in my life was my tomato clown fish. You couldn't put your hand in the 100 gal tank without it attacking you. Several times it became airborne going after my hand. And if my hand did go in the tank, it would bite the soft skin between my fingers and death roll!

I have a Tomatoe like that also, that SOB has gotten me a few times, it has gotten to the point where I watch him more than the Lion in there for saftey!! LOL
