I will feed my dwarf pike cichlid, angel fish, acaras, and Pictus catfish feeder guppies as a treat once a year.

No they come from the lfs
Well you have a very healthy with a strong immune system. Thanks for this share. There are so many folks out there that will call you a horrible fish keeper because of feeding one gold fish in 8 months. This will blow them away haha and I love it. Doesn't seem like these highly opinionated people are on these forums which is a good thing. Ran into them on Reddit.

Are you on there?

…….. on the flip side, I have seen fish, very expensive fish, die within a few days of someone feeding them feeders from the LFS. I even saw this happen once to a fish at the LFS that I supplied dry goods to, that was in their display tank. A flowerhorn that the owner had already been offered $500 for, and he refused to sell. Not worth much when dead.

Every LFS is different, different ways in where they source their feeders, and different in how they handle them when they arrive in store. Some hobbyists are fortunate in their dealings with feeders, others not so much. I guess it depends on a lot of variables, but to me it would personally never be worth the risk when there are so many safer (and healthier) options than feeding a LFS feeder goldfish.

Just a personal preference based on my own experiences, no need to rip others a new one...I don't use live feeders. When I use a live food I go with insects, worms, ghost shrimp, snails. Gave my rescued bichir eastern gambusia tonight but these were from a healthy self-raised population and I froze them two days ago.

I have too many large tanks to risk introducing parasites or disease. Carelessness, I have learned, is an expensive indevor.

I feed my axolotls (if this counts, if not disregard it) live guppies once a month, but I quarantine them and make sure they are gutloaded, I feed them ghost shrimp once a month too (also quarantined), their main diet is trout worms and hikari sinking carnivore pellets

. I had a pair of axolotls that I sold earlier this year and I'd say yes that counts. I remember reading something that they can get diseases as well from non quarantine feeders

Can always get minnows through Anderson minnows they have disease inspections constantly by game and field but be prepared you have to buy a 5lb box of either shiners fatheads etc which depending on size is anywhere from 1500-5000 feeders @ around 115$ shipped
